Happy New Year to all of our family and friends!
Today is January 8, 2010 and Alex is 5 months into his life journey today!
2009 was an amazing year for our family as we found a sweater that Daisy actually likes...just kidding. Alex entering our lives was definitely the highlight of the year. Other highlights include our Liberty Game trip to Ecuador, Scuba lessons (Ben was certified and I will get certified this year), Ben learning how to fly an airplane, visiting family in MT, Ben's Improv performances, reconnecting with friends and our decision to put our belongings into storage and travel for at least six months in 2010.
If you didn't already know, yes, you read the last part correctly.We have decided to put all of our belongings, except what we will need in Europe, into storage and we will be heading on our newest adventure in February or March. We have been making connections with trusted friends, friends of friends & family around Europe, researching what other families have done (www.havebabywilltravel.com, www.justlanded.com and www.lonelyplanet.com are just a few great resources) and will be solidifying our plans soon.
If you know me well, I am sure you are not too surprised. Travel is my passion and it is fun to think back on my first international trip to Germany, which was over 15 years ago! I have grown so much as a human being through travel. Compassion and a willingness to understand other cultures, ideals and people is very important to me and I hope I can pass that along to Alex through experience. We will be blogging along the way and invite you to Skype with us. There will be more on that later...
Today the most exciting thing is Alex getting up on all fours, practicing his balance and strength to crawl, and his bottom tooth is poking out! At least all of the drool was for something.
