Summer 2010 for the Winter's

During our morning walk we were talking about how fast this summer went. It is already October and almost Halloween. Crazy! Inspired by the crisp air this morning I decided to post pictures (and commentary) from this summer for your viewing pleasure. Enjoy!

We had fun this summer picking strawberries with the MMC Mama group at a farm. You can eat as many as you want along the way! Alex had his own container since most of his had a nibble and then ended up on the ground. In the blink of an eye he has transitioned from baby to little boy. We found some really cute clothes at the Stapleton Community Sale (over 300 homes participated). We only covered 5 or 6 blocks!

I was really excited when our neighbor told us about some community garden space available. We ate a lot of zucchini and zucchini bread! This one was left out for a few days...it was huge!

We celebrated Alex's 1st birthday at Denver's Jazz in the Park. It was fun and low-key. I made some vanilla cupcakes with chocolate frosting, however, Alex seemed to favor my zucchini bread. It was fun watching him open gifts from family and friends. One of our favorite gifts is our zoo membership (Thanks Grandpa & Grandma Ulmer)! If you look close you can see the tiger behind Ben and Alex.

We really love our new neighborhood! There are tons of parks, walking trails, babies and dogs. This summer there were movies in the park, bands, a great farmer's market and tomorrow a pumpkin patch - all just 2 blocks from us. We have two dogs now - Daisy and Lilli (both equally full of energy) so our small apartment always has something interesting happening. The dogs are learning to wait for Alex to be done eating before they will even touch their food. Now we are "training" Alex not to share everything we put on his plate with the doggies (he is very generous like that).

Ben has been creating an amazing web design business - check it out at www.winterwebmethod.com. We appreciate referral! I stay at home with Alex, have been putting on Mama Spa Days (www.thrivingmamas.com) and working super part-time at the eco-friendly children's store right down the street (www.naturallylovedbaby.com). So far I have done a very good job at bringing more money home than spending, however, I do have quite the Holiday Wish List started for Alex. :o)

Let's see...Alex has three new molars (the fourth is on its way), he is running around everywhere, likes to comb my hair and is a very good eater! I hope you have an amazing Fall!

Love,
Jamie, Ben, Alex, Daisy and Lilli
